The Community Journal is made by Haijahr Limited. By using the site, writing a nomination, or subscribing, you agree to these terms. They exist to keep the Journal warm, honest and kind.

The one rule

You can only write about someone else, never yourself. The Journal is a way to lift up other people, so every piece is a nomination of another member of the community.

Consent comes first

Nothing about a person is published without their permission. When you nominate someone, we email them a link to grant or decline. If they decline, the piece does not run. A person featured can also ask us to take their piece down later, and we will.

What you promise when you write

• The piece is about someone other than yourself, and what you say is true and fair.
• It is meant to celebrate, not to expose wrongdoing, embarrass, or settle a score.
• You have the right to share any details or images you include, and they do not infringe anyone's privacy or copyright.
• You may choose to be named as the writer or to stay anonymous.

Editing and your licence to us

By submitting, you give us permission to edit your piece, including with the help of an AI sub-editor, and to publish it in the Journal and its newsletter once the subject consents. Editors have the final say on what runs and how it reads. We may decline any submission.

Being featured

If you are written about, you decide whether it runs. You can ask to correct details or to have your feature removed at any time by emailing us.

Acceptable use

Please do not use the Journal to defame, harass, mislead, or infringe others, to submit content you have no right to share, or to attempt to disrupt the site. We may remove content or accounts that break these terms.

No warranty, and our liability

The Journal is provided as it is, and we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. Nothing here is legal, medical or professional advice. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseen losses arising from your use of the site.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
